Hi we are looking to hire a 7 seater for a week away in July. I phoned CarHire300 and got a reaonable deal £250 for the 9 days. They then said that they would need a holding deposit of £500 at which stage I said I would leave it as neither me or OH have credit cards. The guy then said we could forget about that and just pay £30 insurance for the week which is certainly more affordable. Is this right? I havent booked yet as I wasnt sure how it could quickly go from £500 to £30 insurance? And if this is the case can someone explain what it means/entails.
Thanks
Sarah

the £500 is probably to cover the excess, where as the £30 for insurance is probably to reduce the excess to £0 therefore no need for a deposit
from their T&C's...You will be required to leave a deposit to the value of the insurance excess when collecting the vehicle.0 -
Not sure of the answer but I have booked twice with them in the US..both times I have paid at time of booking for the premium package and everything has gone smoothly, with nothing else to pay.
Just realised you dont have a CC and they do take an imprint of it at pick up so I guess that may have something to do with it.0 -
You are likely to have to leave a credit card imprint when you pick up the car so you are only putting off the problem by not having one now.0

My brother booked us a car with CarHire3000 a couple of years ago in the US. He forgot to give us the confirmation email and when we got to the car hire place they had no record of our booking, meaning we had to pay for the rental AGAIN on my OH's credit card. Just make sure they send you all the details well before the trip!Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!
