Gas & Electric Newbie
Hi All,
My partner and I moved into our first house not too long ago and after npower knocking on the door trying to save us money I felt i should get online and see what I can do.
I'm very
about all the different tariffs and charges and how best to get a good price.
We are currently with Atlantic for our Gas & Electric
Gas -
Domestic Standard No Standing Charge
1143 kWh @ 2.930p each (08/12/07 to 10/05/08)
1902.92 kWh @ 2.080p each (08/12/07 to 10/05/08)
We pay £25 per month by direct debit and they owe us £36.
Electric -
Domestic Standard No Standing Charge
364 units @ 12.69p (08/12/07 to 10/05/08)
539 units @ 9.17p (08/12/07 to 10/05/08)
We pay £25 per month by direct debit and we owe them £34.
I guess my first question is how do I know if I'm on economy 7 or just standard? Should i fix the price? How do I work out my annual consumption?
Any quick tips?
Thank you

You are not on E7.
You can't work out your annual consumption until you have been there a year and know what your consumption is from actual meter readings - not estimated meter readings.
However if those bills are based on actual meter readings(and not estimated readings - denoted by (E)) you are a very low user - way below average.
Fixing the price is a gamble - always has been and always will be! - but most people would feel it is a worthwhile gamble to take. I suggest you read the various threads on this subject.
Lastly never never never believe anyone knocking on your door to sell you gas/electricity. Look on this site and you will see how to determine the best supplier.0 -

.
I suspect that as the dates go to 10th May, they have been (pre)estimated by Atlantic - so even more reason for OP to read their meter.
MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

On the comparison sites if you dont have actually data you can select low/medium/high user.
Are the dates in your post correct because Atlantic put their prices up at the end of March so you should have another set of higher prices on your bill.Cashback earned
Quidco : £858
Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.0 -
