We are in between benefits, and were told to expect a 4-6 week delay until we get a payment, then it will be backdated . So we will use our savings , & put it back when the money comes through, but we havent got a lot so need to be careful.
My problem is do I sit and work out basic menus then do one huge shop & top up weekly with milk & meat , or do I work out a weekly menu plan & stick to it, or do I do something else altogether ? Am sitting here with my head running round in circles ! HELP!

Have you thought about doing a store cupboard challenge?
List EVERYTHING you have and see how many meals you can make of it allIt's great for using up stuff that has been sat in the back of the cupboard for aaaaaaaaaages
Once you have worked out how many meals you have the ingredients for already then you can make a list of what you need ot buy either to complete the meals or for the rest of the 6 weeks (work on 6 - that way if it's only 4 look at it as a bonus)

Hiya,
That sounds like a right muddle, I can see why your heads a bit shot pet!!
I'd suggest perhaps a rough 6 week plan, but being flexible, so you can take advantage of reductions. So if you see something at a good price, buy it, and if it doesn't fit this weeks planner, freeze it, and slot it in another week.
However, that does sound like a mammoth task, so how about a 2 week plan, and repeating it twice or three times? then if you stock up for the 6 weeks, you'll have a store cupboard going forward...
There's a few threads about which might help. Like the meals for a quid one? Oh, and Sammy Kaye's £100 a month thread might be a good place to start too.
Sure someone else will be along to help soon.
Best of luck!!!
