muddled

We are in between benefits, and were told to expect a 4-6 week delay until we get a payment, then it will be backdated . So we will use our savings , & put it back when the money comes through, but we havent got a lot so need to be careful.
My problem is do I sit and work out basic menus then do one huge shop & top up weekly with milk & meat , or do I work out a weekly menu plan & stick to it, or do I do something else altogether ? Am sitting here with my head running round in circles ! HELP! :D

Have you thought about doing a store cupboard challenge? :)
List EVERYTHING you have and see how many meals you can make of it all :) It's great for using up stuff that has been sat in the back of the cupboard for aaaaaaaaaages :)
Once you have worked out how many meals you have the ingredients for already then you can make a list of what you need ot buy either to complete the meals or for the rest of the 6 weeks (work on 6 - that way if it's only 4 look at it as a bonus :) )

    Hiya,

That sounds like a right muddle, I can see why your heads a bit shot pet!!

I'd suggest perhaps a rough 6 week plan, but being flexible, so you can take advantage of reductions. So if you see something at a good price, buy it, and if it doesn't fit this weeks planner, freeze it, and slot it in another week.

However, that does sound like a mammoth task, so how about a 2 week plan, and repeating it twice or three times? then if you stock up for the 6 weeks, you'll have a store cupboard going forward...

There's a few threads about which might help. Like the meals for a quid one? Oh, and Sammy Kaye's £100 a month thread might be a good place to start too.

Sure someone else will be along to help soon.

    Best of luck!!!
