Post Office as phone provider

Someone has recommended me to sign up with the PO as phone provider - if you do then we both get £10 which is nice. I want to know if anyone has any expereince of this and what they think. it replaces BT completely so you dont' have to dial a number before the number you want to dial or anything, and the savigns seem to be mostly on calls rather than the line rental which is only 5% cheaper. the number they have for queries isn 0800 092 0512. Leaflets available in the post office.

Comments

• 1.The service is run by Cable and Wireless for the Post Office.
2.You have to take the line rental they dont do CPS.So calls to the likes of 1899 could be barred .As they are not required to allow you to access them while as BT is.
3.There are no packages. You pay for every call even at evenings and weekends.
4.There NGN calls are expensive 10p a min to ring 0870 at peak rate!!!
5.Intl calls are expensive.
6.They charge for Caller display.BT dont. They dont support Call Sign.

If you wanted line rental with them with caller display it would cost 9.95 +1.75 =£11.70p. With Bt it would be £10.50p.

I would personally give them a big miss.

IMHO, that 'someone' is misguided.

As this is your first post, take a few days to read this forum and Martin's The UKs Cheapest Home Phone Calls Provider article and you'll realise that the time is not right to move your line rental from BT for the sake of a few pence a month.

The reason?

Mainly, that BT is the only line rental provider that is required (by its licence) to allow you to use any other calls provider (e.g. 1899, 18866, 18185 - all of whom offer ‘any time of the day or night’ calls to any UK 01/02 number for a flat rate of 3p or 4p with NO additional 'pence per minute' charge).

Using call1899.co.uk or call18866.co.uk, I make my weekday UK (01/02) calls for 3p each regardless of time of day or call duration. Quite a saving on what BT would like to charge me - 3p per minute and the Post Office offer of those calls at
2.4p per minute is not very attractive.

Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").
