How to complete a classified transaction safely

I'm trying to buy a football ticket and I have someone willing to sell me one for a few hundered pounds. They had posted on a classified ad site - not ebay.
Is there anything I can do to try and cover myself? Seller would like the transaction completed by paypal but I don't think I'm covered if they don't send the ticket.
Any advise appreciated.

I doubt there is really 1005 safe way to do this.
My thoughts would be:-
1. Collect in person with the cash.
2. Get a friend in sellers area to collect with cash
3. All else failing chat to him and if he sounds OK gulp a lot cross fingers and use PayPal or bank transfer etc
Good luck0 -
Thanks for the tips.
I've had a look at the paypal site but I can't see if I'd be covered. If I paypal and the tickets don't show can I dispute this? I've only used paypal with ebay previously.
I think the seller is based too far from me to do a collection. I suppose I can pole my friends and see if I can find someone based near them.0 -
I think Paypal only offer buyer protection for items bought through eBay so you will not be covered.0

Kevinyork is right, you are only covered for Ebay purchases.0

Cheers folks. I suppoose I could ask the seller to list something on ebay for the price of the ticket. I could then buy via paypal. Hopefully if it's not a scam they will be willing to do that.0
