Quick question to those who know....
I've been saving money from my job and have worked out that i have about enough to spend £125 on everything per week at uni. Including Petrol going to and from work twice a week and going back to london from birmingham once every 3 weeks, food, going out etc. is this a lot?obviously its good to have as much as you can to spend if you have the money but does the 'average' student spend more than that? if i spend all my money i can spend up to £250.00 p/w.
and by the way im paying for everytihng myself...

My student budget is made up as follows:
Student loan = Accomodation + Tuition Fees
3000 = (3*600) + 1200
Allowance from parents =£3000
(Ten months, £300 per month)0 -
I think you'll find it will depend whether they all WANT to eat together. If you get someone very fussy or on a very restricted diet, they'll almost certainly not want to chip in with everyone else. If your daughter would enjoy communal catering, get her to suggest it and see what the others think! If she'd rather do her own thing, leave her to it!belfastgal wrote:What are the costs involved for students living in Halls ? I've just been reading a very old copy of The Times, in which a (male) student said he was spending £60-£70 per week on alcohol. He admitted it was quite a lot, but said he wanted to enjoy his time as a student.belfastgal wrote:What are the costs involved for students living in Halls ? I'm hoping he's not an 'average' student, but is there any such thing? I think I'd encourage your daughter to work out a budget: if she wants a big budget for socialising, to what extent are you able or prepared to subsidise it?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
my student loan = max uk which is £4195 this year.
my parents give me £100 a month = £1200 a year.
Total to spend = £5395 / yr. I don't go home for holidays so this does have to cover the full 12 months.
I also have 2 part time jobs but I dunno how I'm gonna get everything done! heh.
Fees = £1175
Food = £1000 approx
Accomodation = £3300
basically I'm already over my budget - my wages have to cover everything else..0 -

LOL ! LOL !
Have just asked daughter has she a budget for going to Uni ? Apparently not...she thinks she'll be fine.and is not worringing about having to fund her social life on top of all the other things she'll have to buy....like err.....Food, petrol, books etc.
Think i will let her go it on her own and then offer to help out with money if she comes unstuck.0
