Hi,
Hi
I need a HDMI and a toshlink cable to connect up my new AV amp. I live near to maplins so I thought id just pop down there and get the pair for a couple of quid each. Cheapest HDMI was £20 ish even more for the optical. So I went on a mission ASDA, Sainsburys, Currys etc, the cheapest HDMI was £10 in ASDA. Couldnt find an optical cable for much less than £25, the salesman in currys was trying to sell me a gold plated optical cable for £40 as its higher quality! Gold plated optical???? I was laughing to myself but couldnt be bothered with the argument.
Why does anyone need anything more than a well built digital cable that doesnt fall apart? If it works it works surely.
Does anyone know of a cheap online place for cables? I have managed to find an old optical cable at my parents but still need a HDMI, also looking for a cheap 5m subwoofer audio cable.
Cheers
Andy

3.69 pounds
Heres the rest of the list if you want to buy something more quality but the cheap one has 5 star reviews on it.

I think you mean Toslink
Top quality cables, good plated, OFC (oxygen free copper) etc can be very expensive, but the ones sold by Curry's won't be top quality.
Try:

Home Bargains have a 1.5m gold plated HDMI lead for £2.99, if there is one near you.ac's lovechild0

Hi,
Only problem with the online ones is the shipping costs can add quite a bit, thats why i assumbed somewhere like maplins would have a cheap budget range. I went for cable universe in the end they do a cheap 5m sub cable too and the postage is fairly low.
Seems like a bit of a minefield out there for cables! I can see why youd pay for a higher quality analogue lead, but surely with digital it works or it doesnt..
Cheers

I'm not gonna say they're cheap, but they are good:
http://www.tvcables.co.uk
but also try eBay, just make sure if you're in a rush for it that it's coming from the UK. Of course if you're in a real rush you go to the high street and pay those ridiculous prices. I wonder if a gold plated optical cable sounds better?0 -
Have a look at this site: https://www.kenable.co.uk
saw it on another forum.
Prices seem cheap and delivery very reasonable.0
