Guys some really interesting points on here especially about the Gordy Brown being a scumbag. :rotfl:

    Hypathetical situation.

Elton John's Bank collapses. His £60,000,000 is in there. Are we saying here that he is only entitled to £35,000 cover?

Please enlighten me here? What am I missing? Do these pop, football stars and corrupt politicians and share holders have their monies somewhere else 100% safe us little people do not have access to?

Elton John probably keeps his money in assets (e.g. property) and investments, rather than just sticking it all in a savings account. ;)

They make use of people like dunstonh ... Investment advisers.
    And tax lawyers.
Often through private banks (Her Majesty / Coutts).
Not necessarily in Switzerland, Monaco, Cayman, ...
Making use of trusts, and various tax efficient schemes.
With insurance if needed, in case things go wrong.
Or they buy Premier League football teams.

Or even Championship teams, like QPR.
Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.
