Can you buy, erm, non stick paint?!!! (read on!)

Ok, dunno if this should be in the SBDD forum, this forum or the forum for total lunatic questions
:rotfl: but here goes:
I have a George Foreman grill that is in perfect working order except that the non-stick coating is coming away when I clean it (with non scratch pads), and sometimes onto the food too, so I wondered if there is anything you can buy to paint on the grill plates? (I do put a bit of olive oil on before cooking, to stop the sticking.)
I don't want to have to chuck it as it's otherwise ok (adds to the landfill pile...) so any ideas welcomed guys.

I was going to ask the same question

I was wondering if barbeque paint would work?

I don't think BBQ paint is non-stick. It is just formulated to stand up to high temperaturesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Have you tried contacting G.F. customer services for replacement plates?0

I would be wary of using this grill as there is some doubt about the toxicity of Teflon
http://www.webmd.com/cancer/news/20050113/is-teflon-chemical-toxic-epa-seeks-answers
As the surface has broken down, you and your family are eating these bits of chemical which is probably best avoided. I would go for replacement plates or a new grill - it sounds as though you must have got your money's worth out of this one!0 -
Well, TBH I definitely have got my money's worth as I only paid about £3 for it at a car boot about 2 years ago.
So, I'll give G.F customer services a bell to price some plates, but if not then it's search t'interweb for the cheapest one!
Thanks for the advice all - spesh about the teflon martindow

Although, thinking about it - it's only my OH who uses it for grilling his meat (I'm a veggie), so perhaps if it's poisoning him I'll just keep quiet! :rotfl:

PFOA isn't in Teflon ( as the article says). It is used in the production of it. However it is in stain resistant fabric & non stick food wrapping. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
