Pin Money Question

I've been right through the thread and I can't find an answer for my question. This month trying pin money saving for first time, but i've come across a bit of a dilema. the yogurts i buy my kids are 99p for 6, however theres another brand on offer, 2 pack of 9 for £2.50, but these are normally £1.95 a pack. So really i'm saving 47p from what i'd normally buy, but actually saving £1.40 on the reciept as multibuy saving.

So my question is how much do i put in pin money savings? I know theres no set rule for this, but would like some ideas if anyone else has had this problem crop up?

thanks

No set rule as you say - but the last time this came up for me I counted the actual money I'd saved against my normal purchase as the pin money. This because I wouldn't normally have bought the other stuff if it hadn't been on offer and cheaper than my usual.

But if you want to count the larger sum in - fine... it's your money :)

I personally go by what I saved on the day, not compared to what I would usually spend as I tend to usually buy the cheapest of everything anyway! For example, I used to buy Asdas own fabric softener at £1.00 for 2, but last time I bought their Smartprice fabric softener (no ill effects either so I'll be sticking with it!) but I didn't count what I "saved" as a saving, I just absorbed it into the rest of my shopping and counted it as a product change - now if that made any sense then I'll be impressed :rotfl:

Sooo, if using my method I would say count the multibuy saving (£1.40) as my PIN rather than the 47p :D Besides which, you'll reach your target quicker if you do this :p

I'm guessing that you would never buy that brand at the full price so i would calculate against what you would have normally spent. I recently had the same situation with BOGOF Dolmio pasta sauce. I worked out the savings against Tesco sauce cos i would never look at Dolmio unless on a special deal.
