I wanna extend my wifi range

Hi

I used to stay in a B&B run by a lady who wants to extend her wifi network. I've offered to help out and doing some research.

I'm used to setting up wifi for people but not really the extending an existing one.

What is the most cost effective way to extend a wifi network?

Currently she has a 3-4 year old BT wifi hub, it can quite easily be replaced by something new if thats more cost effective in the solution.

Ideally - boosting the signal upstairs would be ideal, the hub is currently downstairs in a central location.

Any ideas on what kit to buy?

maplin others are available, elsewhere, at different cost, and all that, but £40 inc postage isn't bad!

    thanks for your responses.

I do like the idea of the powerline wifi, if cost is not a problem I think this will be the way forward.

thanks for your inputs guys. Just to let you know I purchased solwise powerline LAN/wifi and it extended the range easily.

They appear as two seperate networks but obviously using the same adsl connection.

I must say out of all the technologies I've used over the years this is the first real "plug and play" thing I've seen. It just worked straight out of the box.

Might be worth putting the existing wireless router upstairs and see if the coverage is better. In my experience this has helped no end in my house and garden.
