places to go with a dog in newquay?

Hello,

I am off to newquay (well, crantock, next door to newquay) with a friend and my dog in a couple of weeks - I have been before but not with a dog (my old dog used to yowl excitedly in the car, continually, during all journeys, so sadly we never went that far!)

Does anyone know of any dog friendly pubs, places to eat, or anything else in or around newquay? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Sorry, never taken a dog there, have you tried http://www.dogfriendlybritain.co.uk ?
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

    Hi,
Crantock is a good place to be with dogs.
Both the village pubs allow dogs in ( we usually go in the Old Albion) and Highfield lodge at the top of the hill is an excellent place to stay with them.
If you google it you will find the website.

In Newquay a lot of the beaches allow dogs, we tend to go down to the beach below the great western hotel and walk along the beaches towards the harbour and back through the town centre. Also on the way back through town there is a cafe on the right hand side halfway through town which has an outside eating area, you are allowed to walk the dog through the cafe to get to it.
Last but not least the Newquay Arms has a decked beer garden at the back which is accessible via a footpath at the side of the pub and is a great place for food, i can recommend their mixed grill.

Mawgan Porth has an excellent pub that allows dogs - its bright blue so you can't miss it, Watergate Bay also has pubs that allow dogs. Both of these places are within a few miles of Newquay.

I have found Cornwall on the whole to be very dog friendly. You will find quite a few dog friendly pubs and even some dog friendly attractions.
There is a great pub called The Smugglers Den in Newquay. It is a bit off the beaten track but serves great food and is well worth a visit.
Padstow (not far from Newquay) is also very dog friendly.
I think I have a list of places somewhere which I compiled when I went in Feb. Pm me if you want them and I will try and dig them out.

We normally go to Padstow area every year camping and always take the dog. We don't leave her in the tent and certainly not in the car so she goes everywhere with us.
We find that most 'family' pubs will allow you in with the dog if you want to eat in the bar area and not in the restaurant 'lounge' area. A lot of the pubs as mentioned have outdoor beer gardens and they will let dogs in there.
We always go in and ask if they allow dogs and if not we just move on to the next! There are plenty and I don't think I've had a bad meal in many. That goes for Newquay, Padstow, St Merryn, Wadebridge and St Austell (can't think of the rest just now!)
We also take the dog to the Camel Trail in Padstow, runs from Padstow, through the centre of Wadebridge and on to Truro. I think its about 15 miles in all but we have both walked it with the dog and hired bikes (there are a few places at each location that hire bikes) you can get a dog carrier or a dog trailer and she sat quite happily getting towed along.
    Enjoy.....have a pasty for me!
