Boiler problem - over gassed!

I've had problems with my boiler for quite some time and finally it seems it has been repaired. Basically, a corgi guy replaced various parts and then the same problem persisted, i.e continuousy firing and he was at a total loss. Anway, the lastest guy from the manufacturer has repaired it by replacing the same parts as before (I hope, fingers crossed but it's now quiet) and mentioned that it was over gassed recording 6 m/b more than it should be and therefore I would have been paying more on my gas bills due to this problem. I have always thought my bills were high but am interested to know how much this would have affected my bills i.e alot in £'s or negligible?
thanks

Probably best to move this to the 'Gas and Elec' section on the 'Utilities Board'.
Interesting point though because I have a thread on there where I've just had a massive gas bill from Scottish Power for the last quarter which seems totally unrealistic - nearly £700 for a quarter!!! So your problem could give me a pointer where my gas problem lies.
I'm just waiting for British Gas to come and service the boiler but they can't come until June 08!!!0 -
Hi randal
I posted it here first because it's where the Corgi guys frequent and I thought they might know but if no joy I will post it elsewhere. Sometimes, you find yourself between two boards
I hadn't heard of the problem before but my OH has been moaning about the bills but with the meter readings being correct I couldn't really argue other than I put the heating on too much :rotfl: Until now.....
So keep an eye out.....Probably best to move this to the 'Gas and Elec' section on the 'Utilities Board'.

Last time I had a gas man in he explained how the supply out in the street is very high, but that the governor on the meter (the big thing attached to the top on one side) regulates the pressure to your house to 20mb. Perhaps this is duff - in which case its a problem for your supplier?0

Hi I didn't really query them TBH
They have been "high" but not astronomical and with my line of work I have spent alot of time at home working in winter months and don't like to be cold so just accepted it having read the meters to ensure I wasn't going on estimated readings but my OH has repeatedly bleated on about them being "high" so now I have a possible reason based on the fact the boiler was overgassed and the comments of the engineer. He volunteered that info, I didn't ask. Hence why I am interested in knowing by how much my bill would have been affected by the boiler issue. As a matter of interest, how did you know that the meter readings were correct? On the thread I mentioned (here) someone put a link in quoting that 1 in 3 meters were inaccurate. So there may be a combined problem.0 -
The boiler being over gassed would not make your gas bills higher your gas valve should modulate to give the correct gas output to the burner depending on what heat output it needs.0
