call forwarding to mobiles

Options
Hi, Not sure if anyone can help but I have a call forwarding system through BT where if my number rings at home it gets transferred to my mobile so that I can take business calls whilst on the road.
Unfortunately I pay for all the calls(12.5p per minute peak) when people call me and this amounts to over £50 a month with my daytime provider which is talktalk (used to be justdial).
I have tried inserting 1899 in front of the call forwarding code *21* followed by my mobile number but it will not work. I also tried 1899 behind the *21* code but no luck with that either. I guess I am stuck with paying for customers to call me?

1899 / 18185 etc and others that use short codes don't work with forwarding I'm afraid.

There's Primus Saver, you can add on their penny mobile option, which charge 20p for calls up to 20 mins daytime, evening or weekend.

You have to let them know you want their free service and want penny mobile and that you don't want their line rental.

I believe diverted calls are automatically carried via them and not default to BT as what used to happen with CPS providers at one time.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Welcome to the MSE forums codymax.

Easy solution - Leave the line rental with BT but opt for Primus Saver Option 2 CPS + Penny Mobile 2 - then you can use the BT Call Diversion Calling Feature to divert your calls to your mobile for 20p each (for up to 20 minutes for each call).

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks guys, Primus it is. Saving me over half the cost on my current volume of calls to my mobile. Only 3p a minute as well for daytime calls. 1899 is 5p connection charge so gives me options on quick calls.
  • How about when I want to forward the answered call to another phone. Downstairs is the work phone and sometimes the calls need to be transferred upstairs. If I create a virtual line upstairs then they could transfer the calls to the virtual line. I would be using VOIPDiscount at 0.00p pm
Help me to help you :santa2:
