Asbestos testing service?

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend an asbestos testing company?

I am about to remove Artex from my ceiling and I would like to get some samples tested for asbestos before I start anything.

    It's usually easier to plaster over the Artex.
    This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

    I am planning on doing that.

    However, I need to remove the most prominent bits so that I can keep my plaster quite thin.

    think it comes off with paint stripper stuff like Nitromors etc. Have you ever thought about getting a plane or plane type 'rasp cheese scraper' thing, or hammer and big chisel and just taking the ends off? As long there is no dust you are ok.

    Also having had a similar problem, read on the net that cancer was only caused by a certain type of Asbestos, but was easier to ban the whole lot. I ended up wetting the ceeling with water and scraping it off
    GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

    I have just tried Nitromors and it comes off fairly easy. I will now try a stream stripper to get it off.
