i never read about pegging sheet corners in obvious tips - how did you all fail to point out this one????

and durr to me for never thinking about it

It never occurred to me 'jen_jen' that people didn't do this automatically!!! And let's face it lots of people have got tumble dryers these days but you can't beat the smell and feel of freshly laundered AND IRONED sheets:p. Will delve into my other 'habits' and see if there is anything that might be of use to somebody else and post on obvious tips1

I never used to iron sheets but now I've got an ironing press I just love wallowing in the luxury of freshly pressed white cotton sheets - and they only take seconds to iron

You have me green with envy 'maryb'. Perhaps I can work on His Lordship by getting HIM to do the ironing!!

  • Corners + a peg in the middle. I dont iron them.
Socks I hang by the toe.
I feel guilty now. I iron everything else, except sheets. I iron pants, socks, pillowcases, tea towels, lots of things that no-one else except me and my mom iron. But I dont iron sheets. Am I missing out on something?
Sorry, I'm not going to iron them just to find out! :rotfl:

Another way that no-one has mentioned is to do what my neighbours do, its called the "no peg" method. Clothes then come with optional mud stains from landing on the grass and being run all over by the kids.
  • Lots of pegs, over the line and I don't iron :D

I refuse to iron sheets and duvet covers. XDH was a complete control freak and every week I used to have to iron kingsize sheets and duvet covers with a very small iron and ironing board. When we divorced I swore I would never iron them ever again and I haven't :D

I've just been staying with my daughter and she doesn't seem to iron anything- not even tea towels. When I mentioned this to a colleague she informed me that she didn't iron tea towels either!

I quite like ironing but am now wondering if I'm some kind of sad freak.

If you are 'THIRZAH' there's one here too. I find ironing therapeutic and satisfying, especially when I'm listening to the radio. 'NOW HEAR THIS' - I even BOIL my tea-towels and handkerchiefs!:o Perhaps we'd better start up a 'Dashing away with the smoothing iron' group? At least we are burning off a few calories:rolleyes: :T :rotfl:

  • I iron as liitle as possible, I'm sorry, I just hate it with a passion :(
  • Only iron things that are vitally necessary like shirts and work trousers and skirts, nothing else.

I can see the logic behind ironing tea towels etc. as I heard something on This Morning last week about organisms in and on everyday household objects. I bet not a lot would survive a hot iron.

I wash my dishcloths and change them daily, thinking that modern detergents would kill of all nasties at a 40 wash, but the chap said that doesn't work, so I have started microwaving them after washing while still damp - what do you think?

Don't want to be like my Mum who used to boil her dishcloths and invariably forget about them until you could smell burning hand knitted dishcloth yarn!
I'm much more forgetful she was!

I put my dishcloth and the sponge I use for wiping worktops in the dishwasher. The bleach in the dishwasher powder does kill bugs that clothes washing powder doesn't touch. I also put the washing up brushes in the cutlery holder every wash
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
