Nail polish remover contains acetone (unless it's acetone-free) and not acetic acid. Acetic acid in dilute solutions is vinegar and glacial acetic acid is a polar solvent. Either way, it's not found in nail polish remover!!
wow doesn't time fly....!!!!
oh yeah and thanks - i thought it was 'a' something - i should have bothered to check my bottle before submitting reply!0 -
no problem - I thought you meant acetone! The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.0

Well Im loving the oil cleansing method atm as well as Tescos organic cleanser (Liz Earle copy)
You need to decide on a routine that suits not only your skin - but lifestyle. Now I personally dont wear a lot of make up and cos Im a busy bee and cant be bothered with a huge skin care routine, I love hot cloth cleansers - ie, work on the cleanser and wipe off with a hot wet cloth - a la Liz Earle
Toner I think tbh is only needed if you use a cream cleanser thats removed with cotton wool.
Moisturiser is a must no mater how old or how oily your skin is, This is one area Im still faithful to liz earle, With my greasy T zone her light moisturiser is the only thing that works for me.
One thing I have learned is dont use a harsh product on oily areas as it will just make the problem worse - not better0 -
i buy clinique moisturisers and their soaps (the mild one or the new antibacterial one). for toner and for anything else i get simple. it's cheap and not full of chemicals. i also love the biore self heating face cleanser but i get clogged pores really easily so that might not work for everyone. i also don't use toner a lot - if i wash my face and rinse well, i guess i don't see the point and i'd sooner spend the money on a mosituriser that will fix a multitude of sins!
i'd also really recommend getting along to one of the selfridges special beauty evenings. i went last summer and it was amzing - you pay £10 for a ticket, but that is redeemable against anything you buy on the night. you also get a goody bag with lots of great freebies (still haven't used all mine up), free cocktails and all the beauty counters do special things like hand massages at jo malone (how amazing - how expensive!) or back massage at organics. last time it was also clinique bonus time so when lots of the freebies got sold on ebay, it was a cheap way of doing things! nothing is listed on their website yet, but i think it was last june so keep an eye out.
also, if you want to know about clinique bonus time dates/shops, register on the 'miss clinique' part of their website and you can access a timetable.:happyhear0 -
Hi - I have been using Clinique for the past 3 years or so (I'm 27). I once tried Clean and Clear to get rid of my spots - it burned my face and I had to use nothing but water and steroid cream for 2 weeks. It was an absolute nightmare as I have greasy skin! So I went to Clinique to establish a decent non-allergenic routine and I have to say my skin is pretty clear.
I have tried Liz Earle and it didn't do it for me. The products are lovely in lots of ways but just not "strong" enough for my oily skin. The Cleanse and polish is nice to use but didn't get my make-up off properly. My colleague who uses Liz Earle products religiously has beautiful clear skin so it is obviously great for her.
I thought Clinique were pulling a fast one when they said I need to "double cleanse" i.e. use a make-up removing cleanser and then the 3-step soap but actually, if I don't bother I get spots. That is still the case even when I have tried other brands.
From time to time I do wince at the cost but Clinique seems to agree with my skin and the products last ages, if you can find a cheap range that does a great job then that's great but I try others and find that I keep going back to Clinique.AF days in Feb 2010 - 2 :A
No new toiletries challenge 2010 (no buying new stuff until existing stash runs out!)0 -
i use no7 cleanser & toner (only use toner because it is a cream cleanser thats wiped off with cotton wool)
then i use clinique super defense moisturizer - great stuff
also from clinique i love the 7 day scrub0 -
I use Body Shop Vitamin E for my slightly, ahem, mature skin...never thought I'd worry about it, but now I'm closer to 40 than I'd dare mention I'm trying everything I can! I also use Boots Protect and Perfect serum, which seems to work really well. Either that or my eyesight is going too....:p. I'm too lazy in the evening, so I use facial wipes to remove makeup - currently Tesco Vitamin E ones, which seem to work very well.
I used to use Lush products, but found my skin became more problematic.
