changing ISP

does anyone know if I change internet provider can I still check emails from my old email adress, I am with AOL now but want to change but I need to check emails until everyone has my new email

most allow some time before they close the email account so should be ok, when i cancelled my paying aol account the first visit to the aol homepage prompted me to create a "free" account with my old user/screen name so no problem there either and i'm still using it 6 mths later

There should be sticky for this question

You should get an email address that is NOT tied to your ISP, or your going to be in exactly the same situation next time you change ISP whether in 6 months or 6 years.
