...is there such a thing?!
We're getting married in March 2010 (awhile away I know but i'm a compulsive planner!) and we're having the cermony in a local church. However, we're having difficulty finding a nice but cheap wedding venue. We've looked at all sorts of gorgeous manor hotels, which range in price from 3-5k for the packages we want. Our budget for the whole wedding is about 4-5k but cheaper would be better :j We don't really want the reception in a town hall or pub function room but the hotels we've been looking at are a bit too steep for us so I guess we're after a sort of middle ground. Possibly a nice classy place, with good grounds where you can do your own catering. But right now it appears no such place exists!
So yeah, we're in West Yorkshire and we're having about 50 guests for the breakfast and 100 for evening do.
Any suggestions guys?

Nicola I am in Bradford and have booked a lovely function room at a posh conservative club, very cheap and I'm dressing the room myself with chair covers and sashes, balloon decorations and table decorations that I am making myself (there is a silk flower wholesaler on the edge of Bradford city centre). If you want more info I will give you it. The room is costing me £95. all in for full day and access evening before. Its a beautiful old building with gardens and bowling greens around it.0

How about the old glen house in west yorkshire. They are getting lots of work done over the next wee while that involves a marquee in the garden, slabbing for outside receiptions and a BBQ area. Is a really lovely setting and the food is excellent. http://www.oldglenhouse.co.ukThanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0

Hi, which conservative club did you use as I'm having a similar dilemma to Nicola? Thanks0 -
Hi Nicola,
How close are you to Huddersfield? Was thinking about the Hey Green Hotel in Marsden. Have been to a wedding there, it was great....but I don;t know about prices! Think it was fairly reasonable though.Flugellover0 -
i'm getting married here (3weeks today) & bbq reception to followhttp://www.harrogate.gov.uk/harrogate-1083
its certainly withn the budget you mentioned & its in Valley Park which is beautful0 -
We had our reception at Queens in leeds which was surprisingly reasonable as they dont charge venue hire. Meal packages start at around £25 so 50 x that would cost £1250. That would be your base price - then of course you can add bottles of wine to tables etc, evening buffet etc. Included in the menu price are lots of little extras such as cake stand/knife, a suite for the bride and groom, a toastmaster etc. They also allowed us to take our own champagne for the toasts as they didnt sell pink in the hotel which saved us a pretty penny!
I found them to be wonderful. We used the Ark Royal room during the daytime and Palm Court at night, with similar numbers to yours. They're both beautiful rooms, the food was very nice and the wedding very well handled by the hotel.

hi nicola,
me and OH are getting married in 6 weeks and are having our blessing and reception at Brighouse Sports and Social Club (not sure how to do links but you can google it). Room hire is £300 for the day.
Its a lovely light airy room and has a cheap bar! Food is all home cooked and very reasonable (sure you could do your own if you wanted, but we decided to get the sports club to do it). A firend had their reception there a few years ago and it was a lovely day.
Good luck!

Hi
I don't know prices of these 2 .....as after years am still waiting for the qn to be popped! But have been to friends weddings at both these venues
One is a hotel (whitcliffe hotel in cleckheaton, between bradford & huddersfield)but I've been told is really cheap compared to most hotels in the area doing weddings. They had a hot buffet, with (from what i remember being drunk!) normal sausage rolls, quiche etc with chilli & lasagne too. We stayed over for £50 a room so was nice that just had to stumble upstairs. Was really nice & apparently was renovated last year too

The other is a country club (but just off the road, near the m62 not in the middle of the country) Woodkirk valley country club wakefield, by Tingley roundabout. The grounds are lovely for a summer wedding & the one we went to had a bouncy castle & bucking bronco for fun. Sorry don't know costs but might be worth a call as bet is cheaper than a hotel!

Good luck0 -
Have you tried holiday inn? They are doing packages for the whole day including food and a room for the couple from £1000. might be worth looking into, sure they give discount on rooms booked for guests0
