Problem watching tv when sky box on standby

Forgive my ignorance with any technical terms! We have sky+ and a sky multiroom in one bedroom - we have always been able to watch "normal" (not freeview - just bbc1 and 2 itv, ch4 and 5) television on our televisions (4 lounge, beds 1, 2 and 3) when the sky boxes are switched off, however one day last week it stopped - I tried to rescan the tvs and it says no signal and the connect the aerial - we have not connected our roof aerial for a since getting cable years ago! All was okay till last week - both sky boxes are working fine - anyone have any clues. I've tried the usual checking the connections etc and all seems okay. Grateful for any advice.

You can't get analogue TV without an aerial. I suspect that your cable TV service has been carrying analogue TV signals and has now switched them off. However, your Sky Digibox will give you BBC, ITV etc.

maybe someone has just put a large object between u and the main mast for the area!, likely this is so obvious but so many options blind its where to start
