Noisy pipes ... for the house, not personally!

Hola folks ... I did notice that there were similar threads on the board, and have tried assessing whether it's same problem or not ... but I'm afraid I can't work it out!

We moved into a new build 3 years ago, it's been great ... no problems at all ... however recently there is the loudest noise coming from the pipes, almost a whine, after the toilet is flushed or hot or cold taps are used in the bathroom. It kicks in about 5-10 seconds after the water's used and can go on for the guts of 30seconds- one minute!

Could someone talk me through an ABC of what to do ... don't worry about being patronising ... on this one, I can take being talked to like a 3 year old!! :rotfl:Cheers for any helps folks.

    Hi,
Inlet valve of cold water cistern in loft is causing noise due to deformed diaphragm, easiest fix is to replace whole ballvalve.
Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D

If it was the toilet valve it wouldn't do it when using the hot or cold taps in the bathroom, unless of course you had just used the loo;)

I assume you can create this noise on demand?
I also assume you have a storage tank in the roof . Get the loft ladder down and then flush the wc. Nip up into the roof and see if the noise is coming from the ballvalve.
I think Razor is probably right but the same problem can be applied to the wc.

If you want to confirm it and there is an isolation valve for the cistern in the loft just turn it off and use the water thats stored to flush the loo etc, if it don't make the noise its the ballvalve.

Hi Willspireite, did you manage to sort it out?

I think I might have the same or a similar problem :(

Noise when the toilet flushes...and also if I run the hot/cold taps in the bathroom after the toilet is flushed.
Or the toilet ballvalve? Corgi Guy.

So could it be the toilet ballvalve in my case??

And if so, how do I fix it???

Thanks very much for any replies :)
