OMG:eek:, thankfully mine passed so it was only £27 although I did ask for a quote for a new clutch and was quoted £600! Perhaps it's only cheap if you are sure it will pass.I must stop procrastinating, I must stop procrastinating! promise I'll stop tomorrow OK:D

best place for a mot is a council run test centre
they have no motive for looking for work it will pass or fail/advise if it needs to beSealed pot challenger # 10

I agree with mcjordi about the council MOT stations.
Never, ever use Nationwide Autocentre. If you know a reliable independent garage then use them instead.0 -
            Another question....
If I MOT my car, say 3 weeks before its due for renewal and it fails, what is the situation?
- is the "current" MOT still valid for the remaining 3 weeks, or
- the latest (failed) MOT becomes valid, meaning that I now have a few days to get the repairs done before it's MOT'ed again?
Thanks.0 -

Tricky one, but technically, since it has failed an MOT, then it wouldn't be roadworthy and should not be driven.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

No, it depends why it has failed. If it shouldn't be driven, the garage would tell you!
And it still has an unexpired and valid MOT.
(A vehicle with an MOT cert does not make it a roadworthy vehicle)0 -
an early MOT is dated the date the old one runs out. It is all done on line so the MOT can be traced. should you have an accident at a time within those 3 weeks, but you are not driving the car to a garage to carry out the necessary repairs then you would be at fault as you would know the car was un road worthy.0

Just because you get told your car is not roadworthy you can still legally drive it on the roadWork in progress...Update coming July 2012.
