how long have i had a licence??

hi

i need to rent a car after someone plowed into me on friday but i'm confused lol

i passed my driving test in sept 2003 but had it revoked in aug 04 i retook my test and passed september 2007.

when i was added to my husbands insurance they asked me how long i had held a licence and i told them the situation and they said it was the date i originally passed my test.

now hiring a car i need to have held a licence for 2+ years

which date is right???

Technically, you've not held it 2 years. What is more important are the dates on the licence? On the back of the photo card part, it'll show a valid from date and that's the one that the rental company will go by. You can argue the toss about your situation until you're blue in the face but they can only go on what your licence says.

    Hi

Check the paper counter part for the dates you are after.
the first one will be your provisional, the second one should be the first time you were issued your first licence, which is, IMHO, is the one to go buy.

That's strange because mine has the date I passed each of my tests for the different categories on. I exchanged for a photo one last year.

I can't see anywhere on the plastic or paper the date I passed my test ie mid 1963. Plastic says valid from ....07 to ....10. Paper says valid from .....76 to ....15. Very confused, can I drive after ....10 or not?

Not without reapplying for a new driving licence after taking a medical. I take it in 2010, you'll be 70? My HGV expires in 2016 when I'm 45 at which point I take a medical, send the lot off and get another 10 years on it.

No, I'll be 70 in 2015 which is why I am confused. Plus why doesn't the licence show when I passed my test? How can hire companies check how long I have had a licence? Now everyone knows how old I am!

When I hired a van two months ago, they've gone by the paper counter part!

On the back of the photocard part of my licence, in the table, under "From" and next to category B (car) it says the exact date I passed my test.
