Every morning, across the country, children and adults of all ages wake up, rub the sleep from their eyes and tip-toe apprehensively down to the door mat, hearts in mouths, to see if the postman has been. Greetings cards, presents or mysterious post that one isn’t expecting – who can deny the magic of ripping open your post and peering inside?
Yet without the humble envelope – this worldwide moment of excitement, passion and intrigue would be lost without trace. Post would be scuffed and dirty, and anyone could read those passionate love notes, whether they be sealed with a kiss or not. Therefore, as part as envelopeworldrecords.com, we are offering you the once in a lifetime chance to experience a trip to a real New Guardian envelope factory – in the glamorous surroundings of Washington, Tyne and Wear.
That’s right! From the moment you are whisked beyond the glittering gates of the hallowed factory, you will spend a long-cherished afternoon, witnessing the enchantment that goes into making so-called ‘everyday’ envelopes. Magic abounds and mystery proliferates across the factory floor - and although there are no Oompa-Loompas here, that’s only because their hands were too fat to work the machines!
How to enter
To enter, use the form below to show your support for the envelope. This can be a poem, a song, a poster, a video…a world record attempt will be great, but anything you can think of will be accepted as long as it pushes the envelope! The competition closing date is the 7th June – so be sure to get your entry in now. Remember, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you can’t buy in the shops – so enter now, and enter a brave New Guardian world!

Thanks for this post - I'm not going to enter the comp but the website made me smile. I do think it's funny tho that they broadcast the virtues of the envelope but then you're not allowed to enter the comp by post. There's also an envelope joke hidden amongst the T's + C's: There's also an envelope joke hidden amongst the T's + C's:
And, as a reward for everyone conscientious enough to read these Terms & Conditions, here’s a short envelope-related joke:
“Mr. Shonu had just been hired as the new CEO of a large high tech corporation. The CEO who was stepping down met with him privately and presented him with three numbered envelopes. ‘Open these if you run up against a problem you don’t think you can solve,’ he said.
Well, things went along pretty smoothly, but six months later, sales took a downturn and he was really catching a lot of heat. About at his wit’s end, he remembered the envelopes. He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, ‘Blame your predecessor.’ The new CEO called a press conference and tactfully laid the blame at the feet of the previous CEO. Satisfied with his comments, the press — and Wall Street — responded positively, sales began to pick up and the problem was soon behind him.
About a year later, the company was again experiencing a slight dip in sales, combined with serious product problems. Having learned from his previous experience, the CEO quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, ‘Reorganize.’ This he did, and the company quickly rebounded.
After several consecutive profitable quarters, the company once again fell on difficult times. The CEO went to his office, closed the door and opened the third envelope. The message said, ‘Prepare three envelopes.’” 0 0

Anyone know why you can't recycle envelopes along with the rest of paper ~ I can understand why not the window ones - or is it just our council being picky.0
