Watch that the recent download established new connections into AOL UK, and that the disk you have will have the old connections - tel no's etc. This is mentioned in the recent download notes.

Thank you for the info MF. I will continue with AOL but I have not "run" the new download, I have just saved. But the notice still appears every evening when I boot up. I sent them a very rude email yesterday (I am always sorry afterwards) because when they respond to my questions (by email) something always gets lost in the grammar they use.

I have been using Firefox tonight for browsing and for some strange reason it is so much faster. Can you tell me how to access my AOL inbox easily from the Firefox main page (sorry if it is a dumb question:o ). Also, I tried to respond to something in MSE and couldn't until I went back to the AOL main page access MSE from there. Why is this?

    1. Set your homepage to https://www.aol.co.uk
    2. If you're using a router, the connection details are already in the router so you don't even need to bother with the AOL software. You're already permanently connected to the internet.

I have been using AOL for ages. As far as connection to the internet goes, one ISP is much the same as the next. However, their software is truly awful and deserves to be consigned to the rubbish heap of progress. Their tech support isn't all that bad, and they give you a discount if you ring up every so often.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

Timbin, I was paying £14.99 until I saw a tip on here and they agreed to reduce it to £9.99.

Chunter, I do not have a router. Stupid of me really as they offered it at the beginning and I told them I had no use for one. If I now buy a laptop I will have to buy one!
