my laptop and livebox were playing up earlier, so stupid me decides to mess around in add/remove programmes!! anyway result was i think i've removed nvidia (don't know what it is but gathering it's something to do with graphics) and now my monitor has gone weird! everything has gone really big and things don't fit on the page well at all.

i've looked at the display portion of the control panel and tried to mess around with the settings, but nothing seem to change.

i've looked at the nvidia website and it seems that to download anything will cost me.

can anyone offer any advice please, as i'm about to throw this flipping laptop out of the window - at least after a half hour phone call to india i'm back online, just a pity they can't help me with my wireless!!!

thanks guys

Have you tried a SYSTEM RESTORE to before you removed NVIDIA (you're correct ... it's the drivers for your graphics card).

Do a quick system restore to see if that cures it.
    Click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.

so when you right click on desktop and select properties and select settings
does the slider show as being at the max?
in the box at the top, does it show a graphis card name/model?
shouldnt be any cost to get nvidia drivers

Agreed, it doesn't cost a penny to download ANY of the drivers on nvidia. They will charge for some of the application software such as the DVD decoders but they're not relevant here. :D

    drivers from nvidia.com are free.
when you played with the display part of control panel, did you try changing resolution from 640x480 (or 800x600) to 1024x748 or higher?

Go through the malware removal guide. You pc has most likely got adware/spyware infection of some kind. At the very least install superantispyware and run it. (Obviously I don't know what security you've already got on and am assuming you don't have superantispyware).

thanks superscraper - surprisingly i do have superantispyware (well i do now i've done my system restore - i took it off earlier because it used to annoy me!). i've gone through some of the downloads on the malware thread, but not anything that could cost me money, so i'm probably not going to be any better off, but thanks for your help!

so that's two things sorted - you guys are great!!
