Holidays in the School Holidays - help

Hi
We have two children and next year would like a holiday in the sun (eg Canary Islands) as we're fed up with the British weather! As they will be aged 13 and 9 next summer, the elder one seems to be classed as an adult so makes travelling expensive. Going on holiday during August is expensive as everyone knows but difficult to avoid with schools clamping down on leave outside school terms.
Has anyone got any ideas about finding a reasonably priced holiday next summer bearing in mind most free places have already gone(!). At the moment we feel fed up and are worried we'll end up having to spend a week in Hastings instead! Any comments gratefully received!!
Thank you.

In AUGUST just about everywhere in the med is hot. I feel its a bit of a waste going to the canaries at that time.Flights are more expensive and 4 hours.
With your kids the ages they are, a European campsite holiday is ideal. They have freedom to run around in a safe secure enviroment. normally lots of entertainment and facilities on hand. Pre erected tents or mobile homes have their own loungers, tables chairs and often a barbie in your own little garden area so you just turn up,unpack and open a bottle of San Miguel or Nastro Azzura while the kids explore their new surroundings.
Italy can be done really cheap with https://www.ryanair.com to Treviso for venecian Riviera, Bologna(Forli) for Adratic Riviera and Verona (Brescia) for lake Guarda (Visit Gardaland theme park)
Spain, CostaBrava into Girona with ryanair again or Barcelona with lots of other lo costs, Costa Dorauda (Salou, Cambrils etc) into REUS or Barcelona
A list of UK companies who supply accom only ,coach or self drive holidays is at

Hi
Thanks very much for your reply. The ferry to France is quite expensive during August but presumably it works out cheaper than Canaries? I'll certainly have a look into it. I found Ryaniar expensive during August (Ireland 3 years ago) so I'll have a look around for others.
Thanks again!something missing0
