Would U Give £15k To Payplan?

After coming into some money I decided to tell Payplan the company I have a DMP with, I said I was writing to my creditors looking settlement figures etc, the advisor said "Oh no, do not do that, we have a team who deals in this and they will get you a good price, pay us the money and we will distribute" Now I know they are a charity and all the rest but I don't feel safe doing that and the fact none of the advisors are English doesn't help, and besides, what could they do that I can't? I have already got 1 creditor talking half of what I owe them, I await responces from the rest, what would you do?

    That's a bit uncalled for.

Some of the advisor's are not English, true, but not all are foreign.

When you ring Payplan, you may well end up dealing with someone outside the UK, (Portugal I believe) but even then, I've had no problems with them.

My DMP team are all English, I just wanted to clarify should someone new be reading this think it's an "Indian" call centre.

No I wouldn't then again I wouldn't let them or CCCS handle our debts either as I like having the control to so what is best for us as a family rather than the generic best they serve.
I find dealing with most DCA to be ok you just have to be as stuborn as them and know your rights.

Mine have never been English, sorry I don't mean to sound racist or anything but I prefer dealing with British folk

I don't mind who I deal with as long as they know their job. Abbey and barclays have horrid Indian call centres but Barclays new African call centres are wonderful I could hug them all.

In a way i can understand Payplan saying let them deal with it, as for us all our creditors only stopped hassling us once payplan were involved and they listened to payplan in terms of stopping interest and accepting low payments.

Maybe you could ask payplan to get in touch with your creditors (dont give them the money yet though), then get payplan to tell you what settlement figure creditors have offered and if you think you can better contacting them yourself, go with that.

could you not go ahead and get f&f's from al your creditors i writing then ask payplan to get f&f's too then go with whichever is the best? I might be wrong but i am sure i have heard that payplan and cccs have to treat all creditors fairly so not sure how they negotiate f&f's so you get the best deal and all creditors get money??! hope that makes sense?

Personally would do it myself rather than let a credit industry funded company do it for you, not sure they would work as hard as yourself as its your money.
