Also please note they are a limited company NOT a charity.

Personally would do it myself rather than let a credit industry funded company do it for you, not sure they would work as hard as yourself as its your money.
I find that to be very true CCCS work on numbers not individual situations so I'd think payplan would be about the same.

It's not that I wouldn't trust Payplan but I would feel happier negotiating myself. As other posters have said, you will probably get a better settlement figure that way but why not see what settlement figures Payplan come up with anyway and take it from there. I'm in the process of negotiating with a couple of my smaller creditors and I'm on a DMP with CCCS who simply advised me as to how I should go about it, starting offers etc. They've been so helpful that I feel confident enough to do it myself.

Payplan seemed a bit angry with me one time when I settled with one of my creditors. At the time I had just enough money to clear that particular debt and instead of having 7 creditors for x years I would prefer to have 6. They told me that if I ever have large sum, like you, I should give it all to them and they would distribute it evenly between all the creditors. I wont though (lol) much prefer to get the best deal myself.
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

CCCS were fine with me when I spoke to them about it. They said that they just wanted to help people to pay off their debts in the quickest way possible. They didn't even get annoyed with me when I decided to pay off my Next catalogue debt of £70 without telling them. I didn't want to include it in my DMP orignially but had to include all my unsecured debts, but rang Next shortly after starting my DMP and they accepted £60 although I was prepared to pay £70 as I have received the goods! CCCS were fine that I had done that and are now spreading the £5 that I paid to Next under the DMP to my other creditors - not that £5.00 will make much difference spread between 8 of them but every little helps I guess!
