Random Destination (cheap)

It's probably somewhat of an urban myth but how does it work?

Say you dont particularly mind where you go on holiday, except that it's cheap and that it's not a package holiday flight (eg Canaries, Spain).

How do you go about getting one of these bargains? Do you basically pack your bags and wander the airport, asking at booking desks? Or do you look like an idiot doing so?

I particularly like visiting America but dont really mind where so that'd be my first choice.

Why don't you use the flightchecker, scroll down and you'll find it on the right hand side.

You could try this sites flightchecker put in your local airport, dates and tick the I'll go anywhere box and put a low amount in the flight amount and see what comes up. Then go to different sites to check accomodation rates and deals for the dates. www.holidaylettings.co.uk do apartments aboard. www.thomson.co.uk or just google for hotels in the area, check reviews and book direct with hotel. To get the best flight deals you usually have to book as soon as possible after they load their next their next batch of flights. For example last year we got flights to Canada in September for £600 for 4 of us (including taxes) with Globespan (they no longer fly the London to Hamilton Airport near the falls) by booking in February-a month later the same flights had almost doubled in price. You can often ring the airline and ask when they load new batches of flights throughout the year.

Last minute flights (booked at the airport) are rarely cheap - you normally pay the full economy fare with a schedued airline and the highest fare sold on budget flights.

What you are proposing CAN be done cheaply - by booking the flights a few months ahead.
