I would like to lose weight, (who wouldn't) but I don't do a great deal about it. I dieted on and off until I was 30, then grew up and give it a rest.
Since then (I'm 42) my weight has remained stable but way to high.
When I stumbled across the miracle berry from some blogs I was reading I was pretty sceptical, but I bought some from ebay and it was delivered this morning.
I'd seen some footage on youtube and read some articles; Guardian, BBC.
But I was still amazed that it worked. I hoped it would make my very dull muesli taste nice, (it didn't) I had orange juice (concentrate type) I was unable to drink until the berry wore off it was way too sweet. So I'm thinking what can I try it on, I didn't fancy a lemon...there were some granny smiths that I had in for the kids (I usually leave well alone) so I tried that and it was lovely, so instead of buying pink lady I think I'd be able to eat any type of old crab apple. Then I tried a tomato, that was the best thing, really lovely to eat.
So I'm thinking the berry works. I can cut down on sugar, say a rhubarb crumble with no sugar. My favourite thing to eat is ice cream, and I like sorbet, could I make a lemon or fruit sorbet with no sugar?
My OH is sceptical and I can see where he is coming from this thing has a limited usefulness it makes sour things taste sweet.
This is where I need your help, what could I cook, where I could leave out sugar, and still have yummy tasting food, by eating the berry before hand?

Hey I agree, you probably can lose weight eating like this, but I went to ebay and also to http://www.miracleberrypill.org and seen the price of the miracle berry pill is 9.99 for 10 pills, so you are losing the plot !! this is MONEY SAVING forum hehe, if you had to eat a pill everytime before a meal then it would cost you £1 each time, thats 3 quid a day = 21 quid a week !!! = ermm ermm loads a money in one year -

yes, you're right, but I bought pills, powder and a couple of my own trees. I have about quarter of a pill before eating anything sharp.
It has not progressed the way I hoped, and I only use them to eat things I find unpalatable like granny smith apples, I also drink lemon juice in water and that tastes yummy with the berry.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

The herb stevia is supposed to do a similar thing. It's manufactured form is also not allowed in the food and drinks industry but you can buy the growing herb. This might be a cheaper way of getting similar results. I haven't tried it, just read about it recently.

Yes it was on the Graham Norton show - it didn't really work except for the lemon, though one guy drank half a pint of vinegar without flinching.

Just don't see the point. Since doing Slimming World I've eaten healthier than I ever have had before, lost my sweet tooth and lost over 2 stone. Darn ite cheaper that the berry too! :rotfl:
  • YUK, I had a miracle berry pill and then I drank some tomato juice and it tasted like tomato juice with loads of sugar in. was gross but the fresh tomato tasted like a sharon fruit, Im gonna have a miracle berry party, but cant find where to buy anymore everyone sold out of miracle berry pills on the net now.
  • I would second what others have already said about stevia, it is a natural sugar substitute rather than something which changes the flavour of things and might therefore have more uses on a day-to-day basis. There are lots of recipes around if you search for 'stevia recipes' on the internet. It has no calories!!
  • I tried them and was very impressed, Had a party this weekend with all my freinds to unveil my secret ingredient. We all ate food solely based on using this tablet.
I will post the recipes soon.
I got my tablets from http://www.berrytrip.co.uk and as far as i know they are still in stock, It does say on the website you need minimum of half a tablet per person but to be honest a quater worked fine and saved some pennies.
  • I think there is a big demand now, lots of the websites say they are sold out, I ordered the miracle berry tablets again from http://www.miracleberrypill.org and they havent came yet, although they came quick the first time, I ran out as all my friends wanted one, they moaned when I tried to sell them for a quid each.. what do you expect thats what they cost me, I cant just give them away !!
Anyway if anyone is interested in joining a miracle berry party then there is a yahoo group to find a miracle berry party in your area, although its new no not many members but if lots of people join then you can meet up and host a miracle berry party its at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/miracleberry/
