How much will plumbing a toilet cost?

Hi There!

I am just after some ideas on pricing really.

Our toilet is downstairs but being disabled we really need another upstairs.

We have bought a toilet already and is in place etc upstairs, but how much do you think it would cost to do all the plumbing of pipes, hole drilled and sewage connected etc:confused:

Also, how long would this take roughly?

many Thanks

If the waste pipe is just outside the wall, it should not be too much (a few hundred pounds) to drill the wall, install the pipe connect to the outside pipe (hope it is plastic), fit the toilet. The toilet decoration itself is much more.

    Hi Guys!

We still havent got round to doing this yet but really would love to get it done ASAP.

How much do you think as the above quote for several hundred pounds seems excessive.

    Thanks

In place upstairs means it has been carried upstairs I suppose? Does it have its own little room already?

If all the plumbing is in place you are talking iro £80 - £ 100.

You can easily add another £ 100 - £ 150 to get water to it and waste away from it. Plumber wil be needing to supply anything from £ 50 - £ 200 worth of materials as well depending on what has to be done to the vent / soil stack.

If you think several hundred pounds is excessive I'm sorry to say you are mistaken.

You had better get several guys in to quote you for the job

    Cheers

The toilet will be fitted in the bathroom which has a walk in shower and sink in. The toilet downstairs is directly below where this toilet will be going. There will be a sink directly next to the toilet.

I already have the toilet. My husband has the drill piece needed for the wall, so he could do this himself.

If it will be more than £350, we will have to leave it again for the time being.

What is an average days pay for a plumber? I am hoping a friend can do it whilst he is down this way.

Your husband has a 4 inch diamond core drill bit does he together with a proper clutched diamond core drill? What if he puts it not quite in the right place?

OK then based on that with water nearby for the cistern and a hole in the wall the unknown is what happens with the stack? What is it made of? If its cast iron it will have to be cut for a branch to be added. Assuming thats its straighforward then I'd revise my guesstimate down to somewhere between £ 150 and £ 300 but site unseen I'm not going to venture closer than that.

With respect a days pay is irrelevant - you'll be wanting a quote for the job and I really think you should be getting guys in to look at it and give you a fixed price quote.

    Cheers

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker
    £300-£500

Cast iron branch, 3 clamps and 3ft of pipe will cost £150

    Would estimate apporx 8-10hours

I would never let anyone else core the hole, Did once and the drain ran the opposite direction!!

  • Hi Guys!

Just wanted to update this. Whilst in hospital my OH got this sorted for me as we needed the toilet upstairs. He went to MyHammer and the guy that fitted the toilet was excellent.

It took him 6hrs and including the materials (pipes etc) it was £450. He also had to move the toilet forward downstairs to sort all the connection pipework and boxed it in too. I think that was a fair price.

The quotes above were spot on...thanks!!
