You are very unlikely to get a promotion code for only travel without accommodation at this time of year, as we are approaching the peak season. Eurostar's loads have also increased since the move to St Pancras so that will also affect the availability of special offers.

It's currently best to pay in sterling, if that is the currency you are paid in, as sterling prices are better than euro prices. You can get returns for £59 if you choose the right time of day which is the same as the staff discount prices!

I am trying to return from Paris one way later this year. The fare quoted is £154, but if I book a return, not using the outward section, I can get a return for £100.
Is it permitted to use just the second half, or do they have electronic systems that will detect that I didn't use the first half and invalidate the return bit?

Buy a Paris-London-Paris ticket and use the outward portion only and throw away the return. You can't use the return portion if you fail to use the outward portion.
