# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
Nothing to worry about there. But any entries that might have been pointing the web address to a phishing site would have been removed with spybot.
Don't forget to report it to Alliance and Leicester anyway.

If you have been to a phishing site (still not clear to me), then presumably you have entered your password, so that needs to be changed, and I wouldn't do it on that PC until you have run some further scans with different AV/spyware products. Once you have been infected, there is no knowing what damage has been done under the hood.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

I can recommend PC Tools Spyware Doctor, free full versions appear regularly with the PC World mag from VNU. Sometimes a bit overprotective but finds most invasive stuff.
As Albert says there could be more infections, some that renew themselves when you re-start the computer.ac's lovechild0 -
Use another PC that your sure is clean (at work or friends) and go log in to your alliance and leciester page if it comes up requiring the same details then you will know for sure if this is something you need to worry about, on the surface they really shouldnt require all that info. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0

No way A&L would ask all those questions. I would run as many scans as possible to make sure the system is clear.0

I bank with A&L and I've never had this page - in fact I've just been on and paid a bill. I think you are correct to be concerned.
How come A&L aren't helping? That's a worry!0 -

You can now download this free as part of google pack -

It's designed to run in the background but can slow down your computer a bit. I just run it once a week or so0 -
There is absolutely no way that any bank would ever ask for your ATM pin number to log onto online banking. Well done for not proceeding.0

There is absolutely no way that I would use a PC running Windows for online banking!0

Some of the free downloads do not remove the infections found.. SD only slows the computer down when scanning.ac's lovechild0
