I have a BMW 316 L reg, full PCB, age 45, garaged overnight and annual mileage of 5,000 - which companies specialise in this market?

Not sure if your car counts as 'Classic & Collectable' as far as the specialist insurers go.
But what you will find, is many conventional firms will want your expected mileage, when you ask to get a quote, anyway.
check some of the BMW owners www groups. Also check http://www.honestjohn.co.uk on the 'Useful Website' page.
