tom cat spraying!

Hi all..

we seem to have aquired an unwanted visitor over the last few weeks.. an un neutered tom has been hanging around, sneaking in and eating my cats food when the door is open.. anyway to cut a long story short it is spraying everywhere, around the back door and inside if it can get in.. nice, as you can imagine!!

my cats are neutered and use the litter tray if they cant get out so know its definately not them.. its driving me mad, poor thing is moth eaten and battered but not encouraging as cant stand this smell..!!

is there anything we can try to deter it coming here..? and more importantly to get rid of the smell.. I've sprayed all sorts but still getting a nasty whiff

thanks :(

orange peel or pepper i think works, a neighbours cat keeps doing that in our front garden we have a dog but she doesnt bother, so i end up chasing it out of the garden im sure my neighbours think i've lost the plot :)

I suggest giving Cats Protection a ring, if the cat is homeless they will happily neuter it and rehome. Sounds like it's trying to adopt your home as his own, poor thing.

thanks, he's definately a cheeky one.. strolls up as bold as brass.. my cats dont bat an eyelid at him, not even my tom... who is a scaredy cat usually!

appeared today but shoo'ed him off... feel awful doing it but with 3 cats as it is, we definately dont have room for one more!

good idea about the CPL - thanks!

Try a solution of washing powder mixed with warm water, wipe this over the area where the tom has sprayed. This should get rid of that darn smell.
Happy riding on two or three

Make sure it's biological washing powder because non bio won't break it down.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
