 Hi,
I am in the middle of doing up my house and wanted to get a rough idea of how much a gas fire would cost to put in. The flue seems fine and the gas pipe is at the side of where the fire is to be placed. I would hope it would be a straight forward job for someone.
How much do you think I would expect to pay someone to connect the gas etc.

had a guy last week who charged £30 to connect.0

But there's more to it than that. The chimney must be swept and smoke tested before the fire is installed.
After the gas has been connected the whole thing needs testing again and the paperwork completed.
Expect something closer to £ 100 than £ 30 for the whole job.
