Virgin Media - Massive bill!!

So I've been with virgin media for 2 years now, and slowly but surely the bills have been going up and up and my last one was £91.15... with £73.04 in service charges.... and next month the service charges are listed at £77.50!!!! Extortionate! though we do have a lot of services...
Line rental (11)
Talk mobile (1.50) no idea what this is??
phone, tv, bb saving (-10.50)
Tv size... XL (20.50)
Spots 1&3, 2&3 (18)
broadband XL... (£37)
seems like its the bigger broadband and sky sports that's the real issue. i called them the other day and they offered everything for £69.50... but i'd have to renew the contract.
sky from the main sky site can offer it for for £50 + £11 for bt line rental.... with only a 4 meg internet drop (though going to adsl from cable would be annoying!!) and starting a new contract with anyone is not appealing.
ideally, £50 for everything would be our budget? are we going to have to compromise a lot on the services we get.
whats the best thing to do?? are virgin likely to be able to go down on the £77.50 without a contract renewal?? are there any decent sky deals around? was interested in the sky + boxes till i noticed its like £200 or whatever to get one =o

do you watch all the channels on Virgin?
Can you live without the movies & sport?
You could always go for there 3 for £30.
We left Virgin this year for Sky, we missed Sky 10 -
heya, we dont have the movies, but boyfriend really appreciates having the setanta and sky sports. would rather keep the faster internet as well =(~Diminutive0

Talk mobile means your mobile calls are discounted to about 7p a min according to virgin a few weeks back.
You really need to ensure you are watching all the channels in the tv package, we dropped down to freeview only as all we wayched was cbeebies.
Sport - I'd get rid of that! Hate sport:rotfl:
Seriously though, ring virgin's customer relations, tell them what you need and ask for the lowest price they can offer.
Do you need the really fast broadband? I'm only on 2mb and it's sifficient (just a suggestion).
We have talk unlimted (call non prem all day long), 2mb b/band and Freeview for just £20
Pay on dd - £5 cheaper

If you need to ring premium numbers go to saynoto0870 and get the land line number (saved me a fortune).Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
Suggest you negotiate with them further . This thread might give you some encouragement.

Exactly the reason, other than Sky One and Red button Sky Sports channel functionality, that I changed from VirginMedia to Sky. Better service, cheaper bill and all we wanted for £50 a month, compared to much more with VM. I booked Sky through the website via Quidco, install costs £129, Quidco cashback £130, 3 months down the line the Sky install has been paid for by Quidco.Money can't buy friends, but it can get you a better class of enemy - Spike Milligan.0
