Do you buy the WFT-100 Samsung magic filter for your fridge water filter/cooler?
Or a cheap copy one from ebay (or similar)?
Mine needs replacing & I'm wondering if I should be using the Samsung ones?
Does anyone think they are worth it?
Where do you buy yours?

We found the samsung one easier to remove, ended up cutting the tubing to release the cheaper one.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. For the compatibles some companies use push-fit connectors and others use compression fittings (i.e. like the original WSF-100).
Pozzani (who I work for by the way) use compression. The logic behind this is whilst they are a tiny bit more work to connect, they are typically easier to disconnect (we provider a matching spanner to the nut free of charge), but also it doesn't groove the pipe.
We get reports from people using the push-fit connectors of drips from the ends of their cartridge. Typically these are people on their 5th or 6th plus cartridge change where cheaper push-fit connectors have 'grooved' the plastic on the pipe, causing a channel for small drops of water to leak.
It doesn't affect all situations - it can depend on your pipe, the fittings etc -- but clearly Samsung themselves prefer the 'compression method'.
For what it's worth the models of fridge that do use push fits (Daewoo etc) usually have a tail moulded to the cartridge which is the same diameter as the pipe. Therefore you don't have a grooving problem per se as everytime you disconnect the filter you are throwing away the 'connecting tube'.
Any questions on fridge filters let us know - happy to help.0
