Is it possible (or in what ways is it possible) to view the various forums you like to visit here at MSE.com in a more personalised or ordered style?
The sort of things I'd like to do are:
1) re-format or otherwise change the appearance of forum pages. I already do this in a small way by using 'Adblock Plus' to remove certain items which keep coming up (Heresy! I can't see Martin's mug now as that 'gif' or 'jpg' element always has the same html reference and is now blocked. It does not load - and I assume this uses slightly less bandwidth too) I am aware of the control panel and have already made use of this - but I'd like to be more radical. Ideally a browser plugin could be written that would simply allow you to just see the bare bones displayed rather than all the 'fiddly bits' which I personally think clutter things up
2) going a stage further from only loading a subset of elements from a 'static html page, I'd like an innovation (or browser add on) which could (say) 'dynamically' index topics how 'I' think of them - or allow the access topics discretely from the 'all-in-together' results of many of these forum boards
I suspect there are already tools at my disposal and (like nearly everyone) I just don't know how to use them creatively to achieve the selective effects I am craving
[Any insights?]
