crown kitchen vs Howdens and MFI

I've just seen a very nice oyster (cream) shaker Crown kitchen called Midsomer. It looks very similar to the MFI Kelmscott white kitchen and the Howden's Howarth White.

Anybody know whether they are the same/similar, or which one is better quality?

MFI and Howdens are the same, Currently Howdens only produce for themselves, thought with a move to italy for production this may change shortly.

This time I disagree with you Woody! Howdens and MFI used to be the same, but divorced last year and are now two separate companies.

MFI are not supplied by Howdens any more. Lots of the MFI ranges have changed; they use a different supplier and you cannot mix and match anymore without your kitchen looking a state :o

Sorry OP, never heard of Crown Kitchens

You are both correct and so am I! LOL. Howdens and MFI are indeed now seperate companies. However at the moment Howdens are still producing the kitchens in their plant for MFI, but are changing the ranges available. Howdens kitchens are either already or are about to be made abroad (I also hear that they will all be flatpacked soon :-( ) in a brand new state of the art factory, which from memory is in Italy. At least thats what I've bee told by my local branch ?????

Good morning: Crown Kitchens have produced quality products since the 1940s. A carpenter friend of ours in London installs only Crown Kitchens throughout London. Merton Timber is a supplier.

    Thanks for your replies folks.

Hmmm, sounds like Crown Imperial Kitchens are not as well-known as MFI and Howden's kitchens!

Canucklehead - I know that the crown kitchens are flat packed - does your fitter friend find this to be a problem, or consider them any less quality than pre-built units?

Good afternoon: He is a qualified carpenter/joiner and has no quality issues with flat packs, in fact by assembling them himself he can ensure that the client will have a quality installation all round.
