Kids Swimming Towels

Has anyone seen any kids poncho style swimming towels for older kids. Mine have got the ones that you generally see everywhere for about £3, generally suitable up to 5ish.

Was wondering if you could get them in a bigger size for bargain money?

Our swimming pool and changing rooms are on different levels, so would rather they didn't have a towel dangling around their legs while going up & down.

TIA

My 8yo stepDD got one from Centre Parcs last year. It wasn't cheap though and she is a skinny little thing so maybe thats the same size you have already.

Have you a needle and thread?

Cut a hole in the middle to make it the same shape as the smaller ones, then make a border and sew it to keep the ragged edges in.

Very green, cos you get to recycle your older towels too.

Of course it doesn't matter so much when they get left behind, no one should pick it up thinking it's theirs...

    And it FREEEEEE!:money:

I'm looking for these for my daughter too, she is 6 now and the small ones are getting to be too short. They are perfect for her at home as the hood also dries her hair. We got a larger one when we went on holiday to Parkdean holiday park, think it was about £10. We are going away there again next week with the Sun holidays so I'm going to try and get a couple for our holiday to Turkey in August. I have looked on ebay for them but even though it says age 6-8 the measurements are the same as the ones she has at the moment.

My mum sewed a towel into a tube shape, folded a hem over at the top and threaded elastic through. So, no hood, and no arms (so possibly not ideal on stairs) but similar effect!

Never managed to find these above approx age 6-7 I'm afraid.
TRouble is, for a bigger kid the towel needs to be pretty much full bath size to be useful like this (also my tribe have big heads!).

I did make a sort of basic "wrap" towel though- and you can buy them for adults now as well so big enough- bit of elastic alolng part of the long side of a towel and velcro to hold the ends wrapped over each other- basic but it worked.

After swimming I used to put my eldest two in a towelling dressing gown. It worked fine and you can get them pretty cheap in places like instore etc...

I got wrap around towels with shoulder straps for my DDs [a 11 +9] from primark @ £3.99 each. They secured with velcro and the straps are adjustable.
