Hello all.

Just wondering if anyone has had any success in using seed mats.

I have just been into down doing my usual trawl of the charity shops when i saw them in Help the Aged £3.25 for either, red, blue, purple or white. They have different seeds of all one colour in them.

If they are any good i think i may get a couple.

Also found something called Grobox, it says "plant the box any time of the year cover with soil water regularly and be rewarded with an array of flowers". They are for garden and hanging baskets. £5.99 from www.24studio.co.uk

I remember my grandfather using something called 'Magic Carpet' in the late 50's. It was like two layers of 'paper towel stuff' with seeds sandwiched in between. You just had to unroll it, lightly cover with soil and water! It produced a lovely assortment of garden flowers that year - far more colourful than our usual paltry border of three rose bushes and a couple of tiger lilies.

I got some herb seed mates but thought it would be better if i took the seeds out of the mat so I did so I didnt have to sow all at the same time.
On second thought, thats a bit crazy.

    hmm... intriguing.

we used something like this about 25 years ago but it was loaded with grass seed - and we rolled it out along the garden, much to the amusement of our neighbours :) But it was very good and we had a brilliant lawn from scratch, so we had the last laugh laugh :D Haven't seen in since though.
