My wife recently was only £140 pounds into her £150 overdraft. Her Bank (Bank Of Scotland) decided to charge her interest which then took her over the £150. She then got charged £35 for going over her overdraft which was not her fault. Can the bank do this? She has phoned but the clown just said it was her fault, can anyone help thanks.

You would normally be notified in your monthly statement that your interest would be debited on a certain date in my experience. The interest tends not to show until the following day but you should put the money in on the date as it will go overnight. Your wife should have an overdraft facility letter stating terms and conditions for when she took it out. The only way round would be for your wife to contact the bank and ask for a refund if she hasn't had one before. This is at the banks discretion.
