Go for it - you don't have to make a final decision until you get offered another job, but if you don't apply then you don't have that option

It does sound like you'd be a lot happier without all the travelling though. I did a three hour round trip to Uni a few years back and it was horrible in the winter  It would have to be a really wonderful fantastic job to make me want to do that again.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I think excellent advice so far and if I were you I'd definitely apply for the lower paid job, it does sound like your work/life balance would be much healthier and you could easily make at least some of the extra money by pub work and maybe selling on ebay and that sort of thing
Good luckMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0 -
Good luck with the application if you go for it Amy..
I worked in London for a bit and hated the time it took from brighton... left after a couple of months .. no time in the evenings to do anything due to being late back everyday and at the weekends I was too tired to do anything I wanted.. my "life" was more important than the job!:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

Its exactly how i feel... last night i got in at 7.30, tidied the flat and sat down to have tea at 9.30pm! I was in shock at how quickly the evening had gone.
I deffo will apply for the job, no harm in doing that.

You may decide afterwards that you don;t want it after all but like a previous poster said... at least you'll have the choice!:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

Hi Amy,
One thing else to consider. If they DO offer you the job you then you are in a position to negotiate with them. For instance you could explain that the drop in salary is large buy you are really interested and ask if they could meet you half-way.
You would be surprised at how amiable people can be to that sort of approach.

Good luck Amy. I used to do an hours commute either way for work and that was bad enough. I started my new job in Feb and its 20 mins away from home. Makes such a difference and the best part is I have just been promoted to a new role with a great wage so the move was very much worthwhile!
Keep us posted on your progress with job.

I used to do a 2hr morning commute, and a 1hr evening commute every week day. I loved the job, so I stuck it out for 4 years. Eventually, I just couldn't hack it anymore - I gave up and moved closer. Loved the job more than the town, and had no reason to stay in that town anymore so, I moved! Still in the same job I love, but now live 15 mins from work. Quality of life is vastly better. At the end of the day, I decided that was most important (it's more expensive being closer).
Good luck in your job application!Debt - Loan: £1150 C/C: £4763 @ 0%.0
