Money in Account - no idea what it is

I was widowed 7 weeks ago. I have an autistic daughter who I receive DLA at the middle care rate for and lower mobility rate.

I put a claim in for Widowed Parents Allowance which I had hoped would give me more than the Carer's Allowance I currently receive for caring for my daughter but I received a letter yesterday informing me that there would be no difference in the total amount I receive due to my late husband not paying enough NIC contributions so although I am receiving some WPA, it is offset against the Carer's Allowance and makes no difference to the total I receive.

I also put a claim in for Child Tax Credits but have yet to hear anything else about that claim.

I have nearly £1,300 in the bank today and have no idea where it has come from. I am worried I have an overpayment and don't know what to do.

I remember when I made my original claim for Carer's Allowance that the money reached the bank quicker than the letter from them - should I be expecting something in the mail today?

It is quite possibly Child Tax Credits, this happened to me last week - had a payment but didn't know where it came from - I had been in touch with TC with a change of circumstances.

Ring them this morning and ask them. I did and they were very helpful able to tell me what my payments would be from now on.
I got my award notice around 9 days after the money was paid in.

Debt at highest May 04 - £65,639.22 - Started DMP with CCCS 1st June 04 & now self managed DMP
Debt now 20th December 2015 £31677.13 Paid Off to date £33962.09 - just not going quickly enough!

Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!

But whatever you do, don't spend it until you know it is your money and you are entitled to it. :)
