Can anyone recommend a good ink refill kit for the canon ip4300. I would prefer to use compatibles but they appear to be getting mixed reviews with some not working when the chip is transferred to them.

Have a look at this site.0 -
I have a Canon ip4200 & have used the Jettec R46 refill kit specially designed for Canon cartridges. I have been refilling mine for about 18 months and I find the quality very good. Each cartridge has to have a hole drilled into the reservoir (drill supplied) and from then on you use the supplied plugs to seal the cartridge after refilling. Obviously the cartridge chip won't work but I don't think you can buy non-Canon cartridges with a working chip. Also no black pigment ink is supplied so I just use the supplied dye ink for the pgi-5 cartridge. I paid about £8 from a local computer shop.0

I have heard that the Canon chips have been cloned now and you should be able to get hold of canon chipped compatible cartridges soon, but when I say soon I mean two to three months!0

The cli-8 carts are easy to refill. They have a hole in the top which was used to fill them and it is sealed by a plastic ball. You can see this under the paper label.
You can dig this ball out using sharp knife/stanley blade - carefull- and refill , but while the ball is out ink will leak out of bottom unless you plug it or cover with finger. Press the ball back in when done.0 -
If that happens then it is certainly worth waiting for.smileyjohn wrote: »I have heard that the Canon chips have been cloned now and you should be able to get hold of canon chipped compatible cartridges soon, but when I say soon I mean two to three months!0 -
When you say that the "cartridge chip won't work" do you mean that the ink level indicator won't work?Obviously the cartridge chip won't work but I don't think you can buy non-Canon cartridges with a working chip.
I am assuming that the cartridge still prints otherwise there is no point in buying the kit.
You use insert the dye ink into the position where the black pigment should have been, right? Also no black pigment ink is supplied so I just use the supplied dye ink for the pgi-5 cartridge. I paid about £8 from a local computer shop.
I have heard differing opinions about jettec but it certainly sounds like an ideal solution if it works.0 -
Yes thats right - the indicator lights & software will not register levels but the printer works just fine after you cancel the warning messages. This is also true of any compatible cartridge you may use. Yes I use dye ink for all the tanks.0
