Got one today for only 599.00 less 5% off with pre-bought vouchers via link on this site so total 570 quid...must ask for the special 1691 with SKU number 263974 as the standard model ...of very nearly identical spec is approx 800 quid. Also you can buy instore and avoid high delivery costs...

I have trawled pricerunner etc for a good fully-featured Centrino and always come up with 690-850 costings so this came at just the right time .

Its not too bad but, Acer Laptops suck and so does there cust services.

But not a bad price though.
  • an acer advantage 3 year extended warranty collect and return with accidental damage cover can be obtained for about £100 if you do a search on google. The less clumsy can just get the 3 year warranty for £70. Might be useful, if you think you might need it. This is a pack you can buy seperate within 60 days of buying your acer laptop.
  • Rather a generalised "Acer sux and so does their customer service" ?? ...this is my 3rd Acer and the first 2 were 100% trouble free..(so cannot comment on service) :T

Acer are great in my opinion i have had 3 now, second one i damaged and under the accidental damage insurance i had it replaced within 1 week.... Not bad i think !!!!
  • Erm forgive me for saying this doesn't look like a massive bargain, just a regular special offer. Centrinos at sub £600 are reasonably common, and while the supporting spec is good (dedicated graphics card/good screen/DVDRW etc), a 1.5ghz Pentium M is the entry level now...
  • Girl in my work got an Acer for £400 from comet. Cant comment on the specs though.

Have to agree though they do suck!!! The screens are real flimsy on them and they look gash!

Obviously there are good and bad examples of everything ...BUT this has the dogs doodahs of a screen ...Crystalbrite x-black widescreen (just like the new HP and Sony screens)

Believe me I am the fussiest shopper i know :) and I simply cannot fault this at the price

I am confused. You mention the 1691WLMi but the SKU number you specify is for the 1691 (not WLMi) which has a slightly slower processor and small hard disk. Which is it?

The good thing is ...They are both 1691WLMi when you get the product (as this relates to their Crystalbrite Widescreen...

AND I have now found that the processor advertised at 1.5 Ghz is actually 1.6 in the laptop too :)
