Cheapest RAC Joint Membership?

AMO Posts: 1,464 Forumite
Hi all,

I have received a renewal quote of £111 for Roadside, Recovery & At Home for joint membership.

I don't have enough Tesco vouchers (hardly ever shop there).

Does anyone know a cheaper way of getting membership?

Thanx

AMO

    Hello AMO

I'll move your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Does it have to be the AA/RAC? Plenty of other companies offer a similar service.

Also see if your insurance company offer free/discounted breakdown cover.

If you have a Toyota there is a club that may be able to offer it cheaper.

AA can be 'free' with some Lloyds accounts. They have charges associated but also include other insurance like holiday and mobile phone - so it may be worth considering.

Also Tesco clubcard deals used to have cover available for purchase.

There is currently a 25% discount on the Roadside, Recovery & At Home element of the cover if you buy on line (not the joint supplement). As this is for new purchases, you maybe able to get your partner to take out the cover and then include you.

I am with the AA, last November when the renewal came through it was about £80/90.

I phoned them to cancel (was going to join the breakdown cover recommended by MS Martin on here) but the lady immediately reduced my renewal quote to £50.

Might be worth considering something like this. Or read MS martin's guide for the recommended cheap breakdown cover.

A single policy breakdown worked out as £13 for a year... So I imagine the couple is equally as good a deal!
