Latest Sky+ update features

Just incase any peeps with Pace Sky+ V2 boxes didn't realise what new, free, functions are hiding behind the the new look menu's...

As well as the heavily documented parental lock improvements (see channel 999), check these out:

During the playback of a pre-recorded programme hit the PAUSE key and use the RED button to bookmark a chapter. Also when paused the GREEN button will list all bookmarks for the recording so you can manage them. When you next playback the recording you can select a bookmark (same place where you can select a starting position but saves remembering a specific time).

The HELP button will now enable you to turn SUBTITLES or the NARRATIVE on/off quickly.

Within the SERVICES menu, System Setup, Picture Settings you can set the "On-Screen Icon Timeout" ON so the annoying RED dots you see in the corners automatically disappear after 30 seconds and do not return after the ad-break!

Sorry if I've posted this is in the wrong area, but these are new 'freebie' features for Sky+ customers that might've otherwise gone unnoticed and that would be such a waste. This is my first new thread so go easy. :beer:

i have sky+ but dont have the subtitles or narrative on the help button or the "On-Screen Icon Timeout" option in the place you said in the menu.

how do i force a "firmware upgrade" (newer menus)

I've just checked and apparently this update has only been downloaded to the Pace Sky+ v2 boxes, all others should follow (ie. Amstrads) by the end of the month.

I'll amend the original post to reflect this.

The features aren't restricted to V2. I have them on my V1.

is it just me or is the new background on the program guide a bit hard on the eyes?

I was fortunate enough to get tickets for Live8 and recorded the complete Live8 from the BBC (in two 6 hour programmes).

The Sky+ download deleted them on Tuesday night. I'm absolutely gutted. Customer services apologised and said the upgrades have caused loads of problems.

I will agree with that!! Bloody thing!

Also - my Sky+ V2 hung 2 weeks ago and I lost all the programs recorded whilst away for two weeks :mad: - They said the update did not cause it, but I wonder...

Some people are never happy.

Fortunately - the update didn't give me any problems - just made me wonder why my box was switched off when I next went back to it as I always leave it on.
